There is no walk in Europe quite like the Walls of Dubrovnik: an unbroken 1,940-metre ring of limestone rising up to 25 metres above the Old Town and dropping sheer to the Adriatic. The child ticket (ages 7-18) gives the same full access as an adult - the circuit, Fort Lovrijenac and the Western Outer Walls. Children under 7 enter free and don't need a ticket.
About this ticket
There is no walk in Europe quite like the Walls of Dubrovnik: an unbroken 1,940-metre ring of limestone rising up to 25 metres above the Old Town and dropping sheer to the Adriatic. The child ticket covers ages 7 to 18 and gives the same full access as an adult ticket - the walls circuit, Fort Lovrijenac and the Western Outer Walls. Children under 7 enter free and don't need a ticket; photo ID may be requested at the gate to confirm age.
Walking the walls with children
The walls are a real castle adventure for older kids - towers to climb, cannons to spot and the sea far below. Be ready for the terrain, though: the circuit has more than a thousand steps and steep climbs at every entrance, so it is not suitable for strollers. With babies and toddlers, a baby carrier works far better than a pushchair. Most families take a relaxed couple of hours.
There is almost no shade on the walls and the limestone gets very hot, so hats, sunscreen and water are essential in summer - and an early start keeps children cooler and the walkways quieter. There are small café-kiosks on the walls for drinks and ice cream. Re-entry is not permitted, so take a toilet and water break before you climb.
